brown fused alumina

Brown Fused Alumina

Brown fused Alumina known as “artificial corundum” or “alumina grit”. Brown Fused Alumina is manufactured by fusing high grade bauxite in electric arc furnaces. The resultant fused mass is crushed and then sized to meet the application requirements; FEPA sizes for bonded and coated abrasives; grains for refractories.

Key attributes:
Hardness [Mohs 9] & toughness.
Dimensional thermal stability.

Abrasive Applications of Fused Alumina

RBH offer a range of products for both bonded and surface coated abrasives Brown Fused Alumina (P grades and F grades), Standard, High Density & Calcined Brown Fused Alumina, White Fused Alumina, Pink Fused Alumina, Silicon Carbide, Boron Carbide & Cubic Boron Nitride. A range of “refractory plates”, used in the production of vitreous bonded abrasive wheels is now available to order.

In abrasives, Brown Fused Alumina has the quality of ‘self-sharpening’ by fracturing to leave fresh needle sharp surfaces in use. Microgrit Brown Fused Alumina sizes are now available for manufacture of precision abrasive tools.

RBH have identified and qualified a small number of partner producers in China and work closely to ensure the reproducibility and consistency of material.

Packaging:
25kg sacks, jumbo bags [1.0, 1.1, 1.2 mt]

Modified fused aluminas are also available offering higher performance in specific applications:
High Density Abrasive
Calcined Abrasive Brown Fused Alumina
Semi-brittle Fused Alumina
