quality control

Quality is an integral part of the Richard Baker Harrison service. It is not a cost. It is an investment. We are proud to be certified to ISO 9001:2000. But, for ourselves and our customers, we try hard to implement stricter procedures than the requirements of this standard.

Many years experience of sourcing industrial minerals and chemicals from around the world have led us to develop our own QA procedures.  Long term relationships are at the heart of our supply networks. Close personal contact with mines and factories result in few untoward events. Suppliers recognise the high standards that RBH demand of them. When quality is at risk, our intensive sampling and testing procedures identify potential problems early so that end-product standards are maintained and customers not disappointed.

For example, a typical talc cargo is sampled and tested 5 times:quality assurance

  1. As ore
  2. During processing
  3. At completion of the cargo, pre-shipment
  4. By both local and UK laboratories
  5. On arrival at European store

Richard Baker Harrison’s own laboratory at group head office in Ilford is responsible for all in-house testing. Where external facilities are required, the laboratory arranges for testing at a NAMAS approved test house. Our QA Manager is always at hand to answer customer questions or address quality related issues.

We recognise that quality is not solely the product specification. Our customers expect and receive professional yet friendly service from their first contact with us, through the ordering process to delivery of goods. Our backup team of knowledgeable product experts provide technical support whenever required.

Quality is not a cost, it is a cost saving.
