DID YOU KNOW

Silicate minerals are rock-forming minerals, constituting approximately 90 percent of the crust of the Earth.  Quartz sands, sandstones and quartzites are used in the building trade, and sands are employed in moulding, glass making, etc.  Quartz from various sources is extensively used as an abrasive material, as in scouring soaps, sandpaper, toothpaste, bricks, fused silica-ware, ferro-silicon, and as a flux, as linings for tube-mills, and as a filler.
