Poli-Cal – Calcined Alumina

Calcined Alumina from RBH is a high purity thermal aluminium oxide product processed to produce stable crystalline alpha alumina with excellent hardness, controlled particle size and consistent performance for polishing, refractory and ceramic applications. Its balanced hardness and tight particle distribution make it ideally suited to polishing compounds and finishing systems where predictable cut, surface quality and finish control are critical.

The Poli-Cal range within Calcined Alumina includes fine grades such as Poli-Cal 03 and 05 for ultra high gloss finishing on coatings, lacquers and optical surfaces, mid range grades such as Poli-Cal 15 and 23 for balanced performance and surface refinement, and coarser grades such as Poli-Cal 56 for rapid material removal where aggressive cutting is required. The range spans a broad particle size spectrum, typically from around 0.3 µm up to approximately 50 µm, allowing formulators to select grades that deliver precise control over cut rate, surface smoothness and final finish. These grades support automotive, optical, industrial and engineering polishing systems, and can be tailored to deliver specific cut and finish profiles.

Beyond polishing, calcined alumina’s high refractory nature, thermal stability and abrasion resistance also make it useful as a performance additive in ceramics, refractories and related industrial formulations where dimensional stability, resistance to wear and high temperature capability are valued.
